Carver's 1st Day of Preschool

So, wouldn't you know my little stinker didn't even want me to take him into his classroom on his 1st day of 3 year old preschool! Here was my conversation with our Mr. Independent on the way to school today:

Carver : "Mom, can you just drop me off at the door?"
Mommy : "No, I'm your mommy and it's my job to take you in and make sure you get all settled. Don't you want me to come in with you anyway?"
Carver : "Why? I don't need you to take me in."
Mommy : "Well, can you just do me a favor and let me take you in so I won't be so sad?"
Carver : Fine, but on Thursday can you just drop me off at the door."

I swear you'd think he's 13 already! Here some of the other parents are worried about their kids crying and not wanting them to leave. Not mine. So, after our conversation Carver did let me take him into his classroom but the minute we walked in the door he was off and playing without a second thought about mommy. Oh well, I guess I'd rather have it this way than having him not wanting to go to school because he doesn't want to leave me.

Oh, and just because I know that you all will appreciate it here is another conversation that we had today at lunch before heading off to school....

Carver : Singing: "She hit the floor, next thing you know, Shorty got low, low, low, low!"
Mommy : "Carver please don't sing that song at school."
Carver : "Why mommy? Everyone thinks it's funny!"
Mommy : "Well, yes, at home mommy and daddy think that that is funny but I don't think that your teacher will think that it is as funny as we do."
Carver : "Why?"
Mommy : "Just please don't sing that song at school, you can sing any of the other songs you know, just not that one!"

Here's our big man getting ready to head to school and arriving for his first day!

And a video of Carver on his 1st day of school.

Okay, Kayden is begging me to play with him so I'm off to have some rare one on one time with him before we have to head back up to get Carver in a bit. I have a lot of pictures from our weekend though, so I'll try to update again later. Have a great day!

UPDATE ~ So as I walked up to get Carver I was approached by his teacher who told me that he had done pretty well. There was just 1 situation. Oh great, the story of my life, I of course had all of the possibilities going through my head of what it could have been that my sweet innocent boy had done (kidding of course!). I thought, please don't tell me that he serenaded you with "Low, low, low." Oh no! He shocked his teachers by sticking his tongue out at a teacher that was helping out today that has been teaching preschool for something like 22 years. She was talking to him about not tattling when he decided that he didn't like what she had to say so he proceeded to stick his tongue out at her. And they were shocked! I kind of find it hard to believe that it was the first time in 22 years that a 3 year old has stuck his tongue out at her but none the less I was embarassed. He did apologize and hopefully we nipped this one in the bud. I just hope I wasn't the only mom to get a talking to today. Oh the joy of raising boys!
