Carver invited us to school to have snack with him today, and we were more than happy to oblige. Daddy, Kayden, and I went to school and got to share a snack and watch Carver sing. We even got to sing with him some too. It was so much fun!!

Of course, as usual Carver managed to make himself the center of attention. I'm sure that's a surprise to most of you! :) He did great though and he was as cute as ever. He always makes us laugh!

Here are Carver and Daddy enjoying their snack

And here, Carver and Kayden are actually playing a trick on us all....they are making it look like the like each other. It's amazing how they can do that since I haven't seen much of that at home the last couple of days.

Turn up the volume for the videos. Not too loud though, Carver takes care of most of the volume on his own. :) Enjoy!

Bob the Builder & A Riley Update :)

We made our return trip to the Chidren's Museum yesterday and the boys were thrilled to get to meet Bob the Builder!! It was very busy but totally worth the trip to see the boys so excited about seeing Bob.

They also got to meet Dan Wardell, who is the Iowa Public TV guy that the boys see when the watch IPTV in the mornings so Carver thought that was pretty cool.
And, for the much anticipated Riley update.... he's home!! He did great in surgery and was totally spoiled at Dr. Dennis's office. They even let him run around the office for a while. As you can tell from the pictures below, he is not thrilled with the cone that he must wear for the next 10 days but he is happy to be home and we're happy to have him home!

Carver loves his Riley boy! The boys have been so cute, they were so excited to see him and have been really good about being gentle with him.
After a very busy day yesterday, we are relaxing at home today before another busy week. The boys got to see Grandma Kathy for a while in the morning yesterday while I got my haircut. Then, after seeing Bob yesterday they got to go to Memaw's house last night to spend the night so that Mommy and Daddy could go out to dinner and to a movie to enjoy a night off for my birthday. The boys are so lucky to have such great Grandmas!! I hope you both know how much the boys love you and how much we appreciate you!

Where's Ri Ri?

Where's Ri Ri? That has been the question of the day around our house today. Daddy took Riley to see our awesome vet Dr. Dennis this morning to check out a little mass he had on his backside and Dr. Dennis decided that it was best to keep him today and overnight to take the mass off and keep an eye on him. He didn't seem too concerned so we're trying not to worry and Riley is so loved by everyone but especially Dr. Dennis that Riley doesn't get the usual stay in a kennel overnight treatment, oh no, he gets to go home with Dr. Dennis and then Chris will go up and get him in the morning.

Did I mention that Dr. Dennis is in Iowa City? Yeah, that's how much we love him! He is our baby you know!

The boys were so cute today though, they kept asking "Where's Riley?" Or in Kayden's words "Ri Ri?" As soon as Chris walked in the door this afternoon Kayden's looked right at him and said, "Dada, Ri Ri?"

So, we are all anxiously awaiting Riley's return. I know the boys will be just as excited as we are to see him.

Just a couple of other pictures of the boys to make you smile. :)

History

There are few words to describe the way I felt as I took this picture. Seeing my boys watch history being made as our 44th president was sworn in today. I was overwhelmed with emotion. I see a bright future for my children. God Bless America.

100

Well, this is post number 100! I can't believe I have been blogging long enough to have written 100 posts already. It has been so fun to be able to share our adventures with all of you so easily. I hope you have enjoyed all of our funny stories and of course all of the pictures. Many more to come I promise! And hey, maybe sometime in the next 100 posts I can figure out how to get the spacing right in these posts, I have no idea why it never comes out like I want. Hey, and for your part, maybe your resolution could be to comment more before I reach 200 posts! We love to hear from you. Thanks for always commenting Aunt Katy!

So, our adventures this weekend included a trip to the family museum, seeing a Disney on Ice show, and Carver and I went on a date to see a movie today. We were so excited that our temperatures have warmed up some (like in the teens :) that we took full advantage and went out and had lots of fun.

Kayden really liked the new Bob the Builder exhibit at the family museum. Bob himself is supposed to be making an appearance this weekend so we might just have to make a return trip on Saturday.

Here he is admiring "Bo Bo" as he calls him.

Carver was our little Mozart in the music area

Both of the boys love the trains!
On Sunday, Memaw took me and the boys to the Disney on Ice show. It was so much fun!!
The boys were really excited about it. The night before, Kayden wouldn't even go to sleep and when I went in to try to get him to settle down he had found a picture of himself and Carver with Mickey Mouse at Disney in his little photo album and kept saying "Ni ni" which we know to mean "Mickey Mouse!"

Besides seeing Mickey Mouse and all of the other characters I think that Kayden's favorite part was the cotton candy. He went crazy on that stuff!

Here are the boys with Memaw after the show wearing their Cars hats. Thanks Memaw the boys had so much fun!!
Today, Carver and I finished off the 3 day weekend with a little date to see The Tales of Desperaux. We have been reading this book a little bit each night and just finished it this weekend so we went to see the movie today. It was a fun little outing for me and Carver. It is always nice to have some one on one time with my boys.
Okay, after rereading my post and looking at the pictures I am thinking I might have to devote the next post to pictures of our sweet Carver. If I can ever get that kid to sit still I'll have to do that! :)

SNOW DAY!!

Well, something good had to come out of all of this bad weather that we have been having. Today it happened to be a SNOW DAY!! I still feel like a kid when we get a snow day. I guess it is one of the perks of Chris working in education that he still gets snow days now and then. Another perk for all of you is that I finally have a chance to post! Yeah!! I know, I know I have been slacking big time. Lucky for all of you the boys have a wonderful Godmother who loves to see their smiling faces and lets me know when it has been a while since I have posted. :)

Truth be told, I have just been too exhausted to post lately. I know, I know... excuses, excuses! But really, it is so nice having Chris home all day today. He has been working really long hours this past couple of weeks and by the time I get the kids in bed I am ready to crash myself and I don't seem to have the energy to get a post in. I'll do better though, I promise. :)

So, unfortunately along with all of the snow we have gotten this week we have also gotten lots of very cold temperatures to go with it. So, even though there is all of this fun snow out there that the boys are dying to get out and play in with they sub zero temps it is just too cold to get out and play so we are stuck in the house looking at all of it (I'm not complaining :).

We did go out earlier in the week and play some though so here are some pictures from our recent snow adventures. Carver was pretty disappointed that the snow wasn't packing to make a snowman on this particular day but the boys made some fun of there own anyway.

And here are some pictures of the boys goofing around filling time being stuck inside.
Kayden has been insisting on wearing these boots all of the time lately. Hey at least he looks cute and as a mom, we call this, "picking your battles!" :)

Kayden is obsessed with "Melmo" (better known as Elmo) right now so the boys got creative in the playroom. They are so funny! :)

Where have we been?

Well, I wish I could say that we snuck away for one of our impromptu trips to a Hawkeye bowl game, but unfortunately that isn't the case. We've been here, doing a lot of this......
Poor little K-Man went from bad to worse after Christmas so we took him in to see the doctor on Tuesday only to find out that he had pneumonia!! Poor baby! We had no idea, Mr. Tough Guy never really gives us any good signs that he is really hurting and he had been up and down but acting like he was feeling better a lot and eating and sleeping like a champ so we never imagined he was that sick. Luckily, Dr. Moen is great and said we caught it early so it wasn't so bad. So, for the last several days we have been having to do these stinkin' breathing treatments 4-5 times a day and he has also been on an antibiotic and a steroid. He seems a lot better and although he doesn't care much for the breathing treatments (don't let the above picture fool you, this is one of the very few moments that he was sitting still) we are getting through them and have just one more day of them to go.
We didn't let all of that ruin our fun though. We cheered on the Hawkeyes here at home and enjoyed seeing them get a big win!
Here are the boys cheering for the Hawks!
I love this picture, Riley isn't watching the game but he is sure doing a good job of keeping an eye on Chris's snacks! Got to love our Riley! :)
Oh, and I can't lie...besides being busy taking care of our K-Man, I have become totally obsessed with the Twighlight books! I can't put them down! I have read 2 of the 4 in the series and I'm getting ready to start number 3 tonight. See ya!! Good thing I got an update in now, I may be preoccupied for a couple of days. :)
