Mud Fight 2009

God made dirt and dirt don't hurt! Mommy got this crazy idea to tell Carver to start throwing mud today and this is what happened from there......
As you can see, Carver had more fun than Kayden did with the mud. :)
Kayden was trying to figure out what was so fun about having mud thrown in your face. :)
Now this is what boys should look like.... :)
And, oh yes, I got nice and muddy too, I guess it's only fair since technically I started it. :)

It's official, K-Man is 2!

As you can see......

Kayden woke up pretty excited about his birthday today! He opened his door and starting sing, "To me!" Then he came out and opened his presents......

and went with me to pick out donuts for his special day. He pointed right at the sprinkle one and told the lady that is what he wanted, so that's what he got! He had so much fun blowing out his candles yesterday, so we figured we'd give him another opportunity today. He was pretty excited about that. :)

Then we headed outside to play with some of the new bubbles and toys that Kayden's friends had gotten him yesterday......

And he got to try out his new "bike" that mommy and daddy got for him. It was a pretty big hit!

Oh, and notice that he's not wearing his usual green frog rain boots, I think they may have been replaced by the "doggie" Scooby Doo Crocs that Memaw got him for his birthday, he loves them!
All in all it was a great day!

K-Man the Birthday Boy! :)

I am still in complete denial that my baby is 2 but let me just say, he is the sweetest, smartest, cutest 2 year old that I know. :)

We had a little birthday party for Kayden today at the park with some of his friends and we all had a great time. Whenever we ask him lately who's birthday is coming up he yells "Me!" and then says, "Melmo!" because he knew that he would be having an Elmo birthday party. He even helped to pick out this adorable cake......

When we ask him what we're going to sing he says, "To me!"

Overall, I think K-Man had a great time. I know for sure he loved all of his gifts as he ran around showing everyone and yelling "An You" (thank you :) and we heard him playing with many of his new toys in his bed tonight after we put him down.

I did my best to get a few pictures, but it's tough getting pictures of a 2 year old that doesn't sit still. :) Here's what I was able to get.....

He loved his "Melmo" balloons too. Here he is marching around the house with them. :)

And a little video too...... (This is just as we were arriving at the park and Kayden was just waking up from his little rest in the car on the way over so excuse his being a little slow :)
Oh, and did I mention that our K-Man (who won't officially be 2 until tomorrow:) is using the potty now. :) ? That will require a whole other post but he has just amazed us once again! :)
More birthday fun and lots of pictures to come tomorrow so make sure to check back tomorrow night. :)

Laid back, rainy weekend

We had a great laid back weekend.

It started off with a great date night for Chris and I at an awesome resteraunt that we tried on Friday night. Thanks Memaw for taking the boys!! The boys spent the night with Memaw and Papa Steve and had a great time.

Carver and I went to see Junie B. Jones at our local theater on Saturday morning. It was his first theater experience and he did awesome! I was so proud of him! We're already trying to figure out what show we can go to next.

After the show we met up with Daddy and Kayden to run some errands to get ready for Kayden's 2nd birthday party this week (I'm still in denial that he's going to be 2!).

Sunday was a lazy rainy day and we mostly just relaxed at home. Chris was nice enough to let me sleep in and this is what I saw when I came downsairs.....

The boys wanted to use their umbrellas with all of the rain, so here they are splashing around in their boots, playing with their umbrellas. :)

Go, Cubs, Go!

It's that time of year again! Chris took Carver to the Cubs game today, unfortunately they couldn't sing Go, Cubs, Go today but hopefully next time that they go they can get a victory. They had a great time. Carver even got to bring home a souvenier baseball courtesy of Fukedome (he just threw it into the bleachers between innnings but Daddy worked hard tackling lots of people to grab it!). Oh, and from what I understand Carver got quite a verbal education today. Guess that's what happens when you sit in the bleachers! Hopefully he will leave it all at the ballpark (or at least not tell his preschool teacher what he learned)! :)

From the pictures, it looks like Carver was as excited about getting to sit in a Chicago Fire Department fire truck after the game as he was about going to the game. :)

Soccer Season is here!

It's official, soccer season has begun! Carver had his first soccer practice last night and he loved it! He did a great job. I was so proud of how well he listened and followed directions. I don't know much about soccer but it looked to me like he's pretty good. :)

Of course K-Man was not going to be left out, so he brought his soccer ball too and showed off his skills on the sideline. :)

Happy Easter

We had such a great day!! The boys were adorable (as usual!) and we got to spend some great time with family and enjoyed a wonderful Easter worship service at church. The boys were dancing in the aisle singing Hallelujua!

Seriously, could the be any cuter? Kayden showing his attitude even while looking so adorable. They wore their new sunglasses from the Easter bunny all day. :)
Got to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa Bob
And Memaw and Papa Steve
Daddy and his boys, looking so handsome!
We even managed to get a pretty good family picture. :)
Just one more shot of my boys, loving on each other.
I know you won't believe this, but the boys were spoiled rotten by the Easter bunny and their Grandmas as usual. They had a great day and took full advantage of all of the available Easter candy.
Hope you all had a great day!

Easter Fun Take 1

Take 1, because I'm sure we'll have even more pictures to share after all of the fun that I'm sure will be had tomorrow. For some reason I'm having trouble moving these pictures around so they are a little out of order but here's just a peek at all of the fun we've been having.

Okay, so I was going to post this picture last because it is just kind of a random one but Carver starts soccer on Tuesday so he wanted to show off his new equipment. He is so excited. Isn't he just the cutest little soccer player ever? Daddy got him Nike cleats and matching Nike shin guards. He'll be the best looking player on the field! I'll dedicate a whole post to his soccer playing fun once he starts playing.

We went to the zoo today for opening day and an Easter egg hunt of course. It was a beautiful day and the boys had lots of fun hunting eggs and seeing all of the animals.

Daddy and the boys checking out all of their loot at the Easter egg hunt at the zoo today.
Kayden showing off one of his eggs. He was pretty into it, it was sooooo cute. :)
The boys were glad to see the Easter bunny at the zoo today, I think this bunny is a little crazy looking but who am I to judge? :)We decorated easter eggs one night this week and the boys did a great job and had lots of messy fun.
Carver showing off his handy work. Aren't their eggs beautiful? :) I think Kayden was willing the eggs to change colors here, he looks so serious!
More egg decorating fun

Happy Easter!!

Birthday time again

It's that time again. Time for mommy to admit that my boys are getting bigger and that they won't be my babies forever. I've been working on Kayden's birthday invitation and I just can't believe that it has been 2 years since we welcomed this little guy into our family. I have loved seeing K-Man find his way and come into his own this past 2 years. He keeps right up with his big brother with a personality and a stubbornness all his own. I love this little guy, he is still my baby and he's okay with that.

From the first pictures of our little K-Man, too stubborn to open his eyes for us......

To preparing for the 2nd birthday of our Elmo loving, full of spunk baby boy.
Oh, how are family has grown and changed from the day that Kayden was born and that Carver met his little brother for the first time......
To two brothers who don't always see eye to eye, but who love each other despite their differences.

More birthday fun to come in the next couple of weeks. Kayden's birthday is on April 23rd, and I'm sure we'll have a weeks worth of fun to share. :)

Keeping busy while Daddy is away

Daddy took his own little Daddy vacation this weekend so the boys and I have been keeping busy here at home trying not to miss him too much.

I left the kitchen for about 2 seconds the other day at lunch and I came back to the boys giggling about how they had given Riley spots (with cottage cheese) :)

Kayden had his art class on Friday and everything was about making stuff for Daddy. Here he's showing a ball that he painted.
Tonight we had movie night. I should have gotten a picture of what the living room looked like after movie night, the dogs sure did enjoy all of that popcorn. :)And my favorite of all to go with the video that follows....It was catepillar and butterfly day at Carver's school on Thursday and his teachers were nice enough to include Kayden while I was there volunteering. They had lots of fun wearing their antennas and butterfly wings flying around the house. :)
