Kayden....the Preschooler!

I'm sitting here trying to enjoy the quiet of having both of the boys at school....but I can't!!  I miss them!!  I really can't believe that I have a preschooler and a kindergartner.

Kayden was soooooo excited about starting preschool this morning....he's been talking about it for days.  When I dropped him off this morning he didn't even want to give me a hug...he just wanted to go and play!  I must say, as hard as it is to see my boys growing up it is nice to see how confident and independent they are.  They love to take on new adventures and they both LOVE school. :)

Here are some pictures from the little man's first day of preschool....

And a couple of videos, so you can see just how excited he was! :)

Almost time for me to go and get him....YEAH!!  :)

Our Little Hawkeyes

Today was kids day at Kinnick Stadium and the boys were so excited to see the Hawkeyes practice and to get all decked out in their Hawk gear.  They looked adorable as always in their new Hawkeye football jerseys....

When we got to Iowa City I couldn't resist taking this picture...I have a feeling there will be a similar picture taken when my little Hawkeyes become big Hawkeyes. :)
The boys were so excited to get into Kinnick stadium and take in the sights and sounds of Hawkeye football.  They both loved watching the Hawks practice, but especially Kayden, he was watched so intently, holding his football the whole time asking when he could play.
Daddy loved sharing his love of Hawkeye football with his boys....
I did too....
After watching the Hawks practice, the boys were ready to play some football....
We're ready for a great Hawkeye football season....bring it on!! :)

Carver's 1st Day of Kindergarten

The day has arrived that as a mommy I've been dreading since my baby was born.  Today, I had to let him go as he walked into Kindergarten....I cried and he walked in tall and strong, and proud and smiling.  I am beyond words proud of my boy and the little man that he has become....he is so confident and has a such a strong personality and I know that he is going to rock the socks off of his teacher!  He's been ready for this for a while....even counting down the days for the past week or so.  He wanted to stay all day today but thanks to the good thinking of the school, to ease all of the teary eyed mommy's hearts we only had to let them go for an hour this morning.  Tomorrow will be the day that he will go into school at 8:30 and he won't emerge until 3:00.  Kayden and I will probably be lost without him.  But, we're looking forward to some mommy and K-Man time too.

Here's a recap of the beginning of Kindergarten...

Unpack your backpack night....
1st Day of Kindergarten.....
I'm sad to let him go, but I know that he will soar!

Bix Weekend 2010

It's no secret that Bix weekend is one of my favorite weekends of the summer.  Our local 7 mile race is fun for the whole family and we look forward to it all year.  We were sad that Chris had to be out of town for school this year so he missed out on most of the fun but we had enough for him too! ;)

The boys ran the Jr. Bix race on Friday night....

Thanks to Memaw for helping out....K-Man wouldn't have made it without you! :)
The boys were happy with their victories!

A highlight of my weekend was meeting 2009 Bix 7 and New York Marathon winner Meb Keflezighi....everyone thought I was crazy but hey for a crazy runner like me it was a thrill to meet someone that runs a full marathon in about the time it takes me to run a half. :)

My boys and I celebrating a great Jr. Bix race....
The boys weren't the only ones having fun running....here I am with some of my mom friends after a great 7 mile Bix race on Saturday morning...
My friend Tricia has been training for this for a year!  I told her how much fun it was and I don't think she was disappointed. :)

Chris arrived back in town just in time to be my designated driver so that I could celebrate my 59:58, 7 mile Bix time, and Tricia's first Bix.....
A little out of order but here are a couple of cute pictures of the boys enjoying the sprinklers after the Jr. Bix....
It was a great Bix weekend.....can't wait for next year...and having daddy along to enjoy the weekend with us! :)

And On Summer Rolls.....

Hitting the hot dog cart for lunch with Grandma Kathy and then a stroll on the Sky Bridge overlooking the Mississippi River, our annual zoo and pool trips with the cousins, hitting the park and a baseball game with friends, and experiencing the John Deere Classic for the first time.  It's got to be illegal to have this much fun! :)
